Exhibition: 29.1.2016 – 3.3.2016
The art of Yannick Riemer focuses the altercations with his own self as the main source of inspiration for artistic production. The construction of his own contour and the immediately following deconstruction of this system of being by the confrontation with other individuals, can be seen as a set of instruments of self reflection: between a loud statement accompanied by an unfettered outcry and a tender transitoriness of one’s own time, Riemer’s works stand, by way of subject matter, material explicitness and by way of composition for the quest of man for identity and the legitimation of this identity.
The center of Darrell Weisner’s sculptural work is the innovation of material combinations: pointed and aggressively, the wooden tooth picks stand in defense against the eyes of the beholder. The organic basic form veils its materially immanent rigidity and conveys an impression of seeming flexibility. The magic of both materials makes the stylistic qualities intertwine, yet change at the same time so that a new image and possible effects of objects appear in the works. In a clear and pure aesthetic, the sensual qualities of tenderness and softness, hardness and edginess combine in the works of Weisner, which adorn our perception of everyday life in an uncommon way.
